More than 20 years ago, the first sign of Leg Avenue was erected on a red brick building located in downtown Los Angeles. Founded by the Tsai family in 1984, recently after the family emigrated from Taiwan to Los Angeles, Leg Avenue started out has a humble hosiery wholesale business. The family designed unique stockings and had the product manufactured and imported from Taiwan to be sold at swap meats and kiosks located at L.A.'s famous downtown fashion district.
Today, rising from humble beginnings to becoming one of the world's largest intimate apparel wholesalers, the Leg Avenue Empire has grown into a multi-million dollar apparel design, manufacturing, and retail distribution business. Carrying more than 300 different and never-before-seen styles of fine hosiery products, Leg Avenue also designs, manufactures and sells provocative lingerie, wild party wear, accessories, and sexy, adult costumes for wholesale distribution to retail outlets throughout the United States.
Located in the greater Los Angeles area, Leg Avenue sells through a network of 14 sales representatives and 15 distributors throughout the US alone, and has manufacturer support in more than 15 countries around the world. With more than 48,000 garments produced a week, and more than 1,500 packages shipped a day through online and direct orders, Leg Avenue is dedicated to relentless product innovation, competitive pricing, and complete customer satisfaction.
During the late 1990s and early 2000, Leg Avenue invested heavily in operation logistics and computing technologies to compliment its growth. The company fully capitalized on the e-commerce boom and continues to advance its online marketing strategies.
In 2000, Leg Avenue entered the Halloween market, introducing several provocative costumes at the National Halloween Costume and Party Show in Chicago. Leg Avenue was the first to provide easy access to costume buying year round; with retail outlets in every major metropolitan city. Leg Avenue was also the first to mass market sexy, adult-oriented costumes, and was the first to offer costumes specifically designed for women.
Today, Leg Avenue's print catalogues have expanded from 24 pages in 2000 to nearly 700 this year, selling more than 500 Halloween costumes.
By 2003, Leg Avenue had to meet the demands of 8,000 wholesale customers at various outlets throughout the US with operations running seven days a week.
Due to the surge in consumer demand, at the end of 2006, Leg Avenue will move from its current 35,000 sq ft warehouse to a new 150,000 sq ft distribution warehouse and new corporate headquarters with modern racking, conveyors, radio frequency data collection terminals, along with the implementation of Microsoft's Great Plains enterprise resource planning system, located in City of Industry, CA. This new warehouse center will increase the amount of packages shipped per day by 100, with the help of UPS Professional Services, which the company has had a long standing relationship with since 1990.
Despite the company's growth and diversity, the mission has not changed. Leg Avenue is dedicated to relentless product innovation, competitive pricing and complete customer satisfaction.
